Is Rupert Murdoch Destroying the World?

People like to blame the Koch Brothers, and they are important within the US, but a recent article by George Monbiot points out how English-speaking countries lag the rest of the world in understanding the crucial physics, chemistry and biology that directly impact the future in coming centuries, or to put it more neutrally, are at odds with the rest of the world in their perspective.
Monbiot’s attribution is that “The richer we are and the more we consume, the more self-centred and careless of the lives of others we appear to become”, but I propose the alternative hypothesis that the Murdoch empire’s strategies have been effective in promoting a shallow and shabby self-centeredness in the countries that they directly affect.
